Components of IPTVVideo Head end This is where video is captured and processed to that it can be sent over the IP network. Service Provider Core Network This is the core network of the Service provider and includes hardware from many vendors that make up this network. Service provider Access network The access network is the line from the Service Provider to the Customer’s home. Telecom service providers are using DSL (digital subscriber line) technology to serve households. They also are beginning to use fiber technology like PON (passive optical networking) to reach homes. IPTV networks will use variants of asymmetrical DSL (ADSL) and very-high-speed DSL (VDSL) to provide the required bandwidth to run IPTV. The service provider will place a device at the household to deliver an Ethernet connection to the home network. Home network The home network is the last mile. The connection gets into the household through the device and is then connected to the set top box which in turn is connected to the TV. |
